2007 Pet of the Month
December Pet of the Month
Millie Graham

We would like to present “Millie” Graham as our December Pet of the Month. She is a 1 ½ year old lilac-fronted Amazon parrot. She loves to play with wooden objects hanging in her cage and to get off her cage and hide. Her funniest habit is getting off of her cage and hiding. At mealtime, she demands her owner’s attention by talking to them. This special parrot recently nicknamed herself “Mill” without ever being asked! She’s currently learning how to count to four. Her proud owners are Mark and Judy Graham of Excelsior.
November Pet of the Month
Miles Zeyer

We would like to present Miles Zeyer as our November Pet of the Month. He loves to play with empty cardboard boxes and paper bags and entertains his owners by chasing the cats around the house, opening cupboards and drawers and hiding food behind the T.V. To get his owners’ attention he follows them around the house and bites their socks or feet. Even though Miles is quite old for a ferret (he is 8 years old!), he still loves to play and snuggle. His proud owners are Lindsay and Bill Zeyer of Waconia.
October Pet of the Month
In Loving Memory of Rosie Nord

In Loving Memory of Rosie Nord, our October Pet of the Month. She was a very sweet kitty who liked to chase strings and attack feet moving under the blanket. She always made her owners laugh when she would growl or hiss at other animals passing by. To get her owner’s attention, she would walk right up and try to lay on their face or neck. In addition, Rosie was a 3 ½ year cancer survivor who participated in a vaccine associated sarcoma study at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center. We were honored to care for her and will all miss her dearly. Her proud owners were the Nord Family of Waconia.
September Pets of the Month
Amy, Katie, and Kirby Herrmann

For our September Pets of Month we would like to present Amy, Katie, and in loving memory Kirby Herrmann. Amy’s favorite toy is her stuffed porcupine. Her funniest habit is when she stomps her feet when it’s dinner time and her favorite thing to do is taking a nap after dinner. When she wants attention, she sticks her head between your knees to get a good scratching. Katie’s favorite toy is big hedgie. Her favorite thing to do is play in the backyard. Her funniest habit is that she always has to sleep on the outside next to the fire pit. When she wants attention, she “talks.” Kirby just passed away this past July. His favorite toy was a stuffed mailman. His favorite thing to do was ride in mom’s truck or airplane. His funniest habit was sticking his nose out the dog door to check the weather. When he wanted attention, he gave you the “poky nose.” Amy, Katie and Kirby’s proud owner is Laura Herrmann of Minnetrista, MN.
August Pet of the Month
Ally Meyer

Ally is our petite, spoiled Beagle who we all think is the cutest and best dog ever. Ally sleeps in our son’s bed every night with her own little blanket. She loves being around her family and starts howling the minute we walk in the door and will continue to follow us around the house most of the evening. She performs many tricks such as dancing (twirling around while standing on her 2 back feet), shaking, scooting on her belly on the carpet, speaking, and sneezing on command and rings the bell to do her “business.” Her favorite toy is a TY beanie baby. She steals them from our daughter’s room any chance she gets; despite us explaining to her that those are not “dog toys.” She also loves greens but she doesn’t ever want to chew them, just throw them up in the air to try to catch them. Ally spends most of her summer weekends up north at our camper. This year up north, she made a special little chipmunk friend who constantly teases her by squeaking at her and running from tree to tree getting just close enough so Ally feels she’ll catch it one day. Ally will spend hours looking up the tree while the chipmunk looks down at her. Ally and her family would like to thank the staff at St. Boni Pet Hospital for saving her life this year so she could do all these fun things! She was very sick with Blastomycosis and after about 6 months, we were blessed to have her back to her usual playful self. We could tell the staff genuinely cared for Ally and wanted to get her better just as much as we did. Ally’s proud owners are Jaymey, Jenny, Cody (10) and Caley (7) Meyer of St. Bonifacius, MN.
July Pet of the Month
Willow Kirsch

We present Willow Kirsch as our July Pet of the Month. Willow has been with his family since he was 6 weeks old and is now 4 years old. He likes to play hide and seek and will show the neighborhood dogs who’s the boss. In the morning he will wait by the sink for his teeth to be brushed. If he isn’t greeted with a “Hi, Willow” or a pet, he will jump up and nip at you. He is loved by all of his family members. He is a sophisticated farm cat and loves all the attention he receives. He would also like to thank the Veterinary staff of St. Boni Pet Hospital that saved his life 2 years ago. His proud owner is Linette Kirsch of St. Bonifacius.
June Pet of the Month
Penny Huepenbecker

We present Penny Huepenbecker as our June Pet of the Month. Penny is a fun-loving, people-loving Golden Retriever. She loves to greet her owners when they get home from work and the boys when they get off the school bus. If she needs their attention at other times, she gives them a nudge with her nose or sits and stares at them with her big brown eyes—that gets them every time! Her owners say that she does a couple of funny things. She has this habit of “hugging” people. She likes to put her front paws up on their arms when they are petting her. She also eats so fast that sometimes she forgets to chew her food and then she has to roll around in the grass. When she is not wrestling or having battles with the boys, her favorite toy is this bouncy thing with a rope attached to it. Proud owner is Mary Huepenbecker of Norwood, MN.
May Pet of the Month
In Loving Memory of Radar Harris

In loving memory of Radar Harris we present him as our May Pet of the Month. Radar loved to play hockey with plastic water bottle caps and would choose these over any store-bought toy. The owners are sure they’ll find hundreds of caps throughout the house when they move. Radar’s funniest habit was laying on his back and stretching out next to the fireplace; he would lay so close his owners were afraid he was going to start to cook inside. He loved to pick on his sister dog, Kiki by hiding behind furniture and then attacking her. The two of them would play for hours and then fall asleep together. In December, he became very ill and everyone at St. Boni Pet Hospital did all they could to make him better. He did get better for three months, but he unfortunately took a turn for the worst in April and passed away. Radar will be missed by his family, Tom and Robin Harris of Minnetrista, and all who knew him.
April Pet of the Month
Gilbert Crowder

We are proud to present Gilbert Crowder as our April Pet of the Month. Gilbert is a Golden Doodle. Gilbert’s favorite toy is his 3 year old boy and his other toys. He is not attached to any of his own toys—he would rather steal an action figure and bite its hand off! Every morning while he is still in his kennel, he talks when he is ready to be let out. He says, “Goommma”, almost exactly each day. He doesn’t bark unless you don’t respond to the “goommma.” His goofiest trait is the way he moves. He will lie on your lap, facing forward, with his legs spread apart and his arms floppy. He doesn’t mind if you touch his feet—he has very few objections. He also likes to ride in the car. He always sits on the same middle seat and he sits very upright like a child. Proud owners are Stephen and Sunny Crowder of Watertown.
March Pet of the Month
Fred Miller
We are proud to present Fred Miller as our March Pet of the Month. Fred is a guinea pig. He enjoys gnawing on his edible house and eating parsley— which is his favorite snack. His funniest habit is “popcorning” which is jumping and leaping straight up into the air when he’s happy. To get attention from his owner he squeaks and coos. Fred also loves to be held and shows you by purring and giving affection kisses. Fred’s proud owner is Michael Miller.
February Pet of the Month
Purkis Clan
We are proud to present the Purkis dogs as our February Pet of the Month. Hey, I’m “Murphy,” the youngest of the Purkis clan. My favorite toy is any kind of tug rope. I like to take shoes from my owner’s mudroom and deliver them to their rightful owners. My owners would say that I’m in my own world and I don’t really pay attention. Hi, I’m “Monty,” my favorite toy is my rubber ball. I like to tease my brother “Charley” by stealing his ball every now and then and running off with it. If no one is paying attention to me, I nudge them to let them know that I’m ready to play. Hi, I’m “Charley,” my favorite toy is also my rubber ball, the only one that I can’t destroy with my teeth: if “Monty” gets to it first, I gently take the ball out of his mouth. The way I get my owners attention is by dropping my rubber ball at their feet. Hello, I’m “Lucy,” I really don’t have a favorite toy. I am content with just lying around and relaxing all day. My owners would say my funniest habit is clicking my teeth when I get excited. I also nudge my owners when I want attention, but it’s a gentle nudge, since I’m a lady. We all dearly miss our brother “Danny” who passed away suddenly last fall.
