2009 Pet of the Month
December Pet of the Month
Chessie Neubauer
We are proud to present Chessie Neubauer as our December Pet of the Month. Chessie is an 8 year old Golden retriever who loves playing with her Frisbee. Chessie sleeps on a doggie bed in the living room, next to her master’s chair. Her funniest habit is standing on her hind legs to shake hands. When she wants attention, she will lay next to her master’s chair until he takes off his slippers to put his socks on for the day. She will jump up & “talk” to him because she knows that they are going somewhere— (she doesn’t care where)! Her owners went to the breeder to pick out a golden retriever puppy and the puppies were separated into a “boy” group and a “girl” group. In the past, they have only had male dogs, so they picked out the happy puppy from the “boy” group, only to find out several weeks later that one of the puppies had been placed in the wrong group and they were the proud owners of their first female retriever. Her name was quickly changed from Chester to Chessie. Her owners are Don and Jackie Neubauer from Minnestrista and Chessie is without a doubt, the most loved dog they have ever had!
November Pet of the Month
Lola Cook
We are proud to present Lola Cook as our November pet of the month. Lola, who is also called Piglet and Loli, is a 2 year old Chinese pug who loves playing with her mini tennis balls or anything that squeaks. She likes sleeping under the covers and also enjoys splashing around in the water at the cabin. Lola always knows when it’s her feeding time and won’t stop bugging her owners until they feed her. She gives a loud snort and a bold stare when she wants some attention or a treat. Her proud owners are Ryan Cook and Wes Toll.
October Pet of the Month
Freckles Clark
In Loving Memory...
We are proud to present Freckles Clark as our October pet of the month. Freckles, (also called Old Lady or Fuzz ball), was a very friendly, elderly, and nearly blind diabetic cat. She even reminded her owners when it was time for her insulin shots twice a day. Freckles liked to sleep on a rug placed on the floor of a closet where there weren’t any drafts and she couldn’t see or hear lightning and thunder. After supper every night, it was her duty to sit on her owners’ lap for a nap. Freckles joined her family about 15 years ago, along with other foster animals. She had helped guard and baby-sat two granddaughters. If Barbie doll clothes were on the floor, she loved to lay on them until someone tempted her off with a piece of thick, red yarn. Freckles got attention by getting in front of her owners’ feet and standing there until they figured out what it was she thought she needed. She seemed to like her own vacations, when her owners were also on vacation, with new people to visit and fuss over her while boarding or having a pet sitter. Everyone here at St. Boni Pet Hospital will miss her dearly, especially her owners, Bill and Joan Clark of Mound.
September Pet of the Month
Penny Stehr
We are proud to present Penny Stehr as our September pet of the month. Penny is a 4 year old English Pointer who loves playing with “her rag” at home. Her funniest habit is doing aerial leaps and catching balls in the yard. When she wants to get her owners attention she sits on their laps and “leans” into a hug. Her proud owners are Larry and LaDonna Stehr of St. Bonifacius.
August Pet of the Month
Nee'mo and Kaiser Tews
We would like to present Nee’mo and Kaiser Tews as our August pets of the month. They are both Rottweilers, Nee’mo is 6 years old and Kaiser is 11 months. Nee’mo loves chewing on his bone and laying on the ground like superman. Kaiser’s favorite toy is anything that squeaks and he loves laying on his back and wiggling around. Nee’mo gets his owners attention by running to and from the door while Kaiser likes to get attention by jumping on the bed. Their proud owner is James Tews of Cologne.
July Pet of the Month
Izzo Carlson-Wallrath
We are proud to present Izzo Carlson-Wallrath as our July pet of the month. Izzo is a 6 year old Chinese Pug. Her favorite toys are anything that has a squeaker inside. Her owners find it funny when she crawls under the covers when she is ready for bed. If Izzo wants to get your attention, she will run around in figure 8’s in the living room. Izzo’s proud owners are Curt Wallrath and Sarah Carlson-Wallrath of St. Bonifacius.
June Pet of the Month
Stella Jacobson
We are proud to present Stella Jacobson as our June pet of the month. Stella is a 3 1/2 year old Lab/Wheaton/Boxer mix. She loves to play with her kong toy, especially when it is filled with peanut butter. Before she will lay down Stella always has to turn around 3 times which her owners find rather amusing. When she wants to get your attention she will start whimpering. Stella’s proud owners are Chad and Michelle Jacobson of Waconia MN.
May Pet of the Month
Lexi Louwagie
We are proud to present Lexi Louwagie as our May Pet of the Month. Lexi is a 7 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who loves to play keep away with her stuffed elephant and monkey. She loves to jump and pounce like a cat when she plays with her toys. She will sit in front of her owners and snort and shake her head until she gets their attention. Lexi is the sweetest, most gentle, and loving dog owned by Jim, Barb, Anthony, and Ashley Louwagie of Norwood-Young America.
April Pet of the Month
Mocha and Murphy Cummings
We are proud to present Mocha and Murphy Cummings as our April Pets of the Month. Mocha is an 11 month old chocolate Labrador retriever who loves playing with his squeaky kong and whenever he wants to play, he squeaks his kong because he knows it drives his owners crazy and they’ll play with him so he stops. Mocha’s funniest habit is stealing lint out of the garbage can in the laundry room. Murphy is an 11 month old golden retriever who loves playing with any stuffed animal and always has to sleep with a stuffed animal in his mouth. Murphy gets his owner’s attention by pawing at them until they pet him. Their proud owners are Brandon and Joan Cummings of Waconia.
March Pet of the Month
Ernie Schmitz
We are proud to present Ernie Ray Schmitz as our March Pet of the Month. Ernie is an 8 year old domestic longhair cat, whose favorite toy is his brown, furry mouse. His funniest habit is dunking his chin in his water bowl and throwing the rest of the water on the floor. To get attention, Ernie will meow, walk over to his owners, tap them repeatedly with his paw, then sit down next to them and meow more until they pet him and they meow back to him. His proud owners are Craig, Theresa, Norah, and Peter Schmitz of Waconia.
February Pet of the Month
Hank Raether
We are proud to present Hank Raether as our February Pet of the Month. Hank is a 2 year old English Bulldog who loves to lay around the house and relax. He loves playing with his rope toys. If he wants to get your attention, he will stick his tongue out at you. His proud owner is Laura Raether of Minnetrista.
January Pet of the Month
Abby Bolton
We would like to present Abby Bolton as our January Pet of the Month. Abby is a 4 year old Labrador retriever who comes in for grooming often and takes her leash in her mouth and walks herself back to the grooming area. Abby loves to play with her tennis ball or squeaky toy and taking the dish towels off of the stove and make a bed in the living room (after licking the food off of it first). Abby gets her owners attention by waiting at the door like she wants to go outside and when she gets out, she turns around and wants to come back inside. She thinks she just might get a treat (because she went outside). Her proud owners are Kit and Marie Bolton of St. Bonifacius.
